Three years later, the society acquired the original Cape Coral Country Club Pro Shop and Snack Bar building from the city, embarking on a transformation that would give birth to the Cape Coral Museum of History. In 1987, the museum opened its doors to the public, and it has been a hub for history enthusiasts ever since.

Today, the Cape Coral Museum of History comprises three buildings, each housing a treasure trove of exhibits that weave together the narrative of Cape Coral’s past. The museum is operated by the Cape Coral Historical Society, overseen by a fifteen-member Board of Directors. To ensure the museum’s day-to-day operations run smoothly, a dedicated staff of one full-time and one part-time member, along with a pool of approximately 50 volunteers, work tirelessly to preserve and share the city’s history.
The museum is open to the public for around 200 days each year, welcoming visitors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
